QUICKIES 06/04/2012

New York Magazine tackles the subject of transgender/transitioning children in S/He.  While some passages are a little problematic, it’s fantastic to see a topic that’s still shrouded in stigma and ignorance get overall serious, respectful treatment.

College educated women hit their pay-ceiling around age 39.  Men hit theirs 9 years and $35,000 a year later.

“They have limited access to facilities and funding. But that hasn’t stopped them from playing:” the secret world of underground women’s soccer in Saudi Arabia.

The vibrator originated as a medical device for the treatment of female hysteria.  Check out this awesome timeline of that history.
