Hi-didilie-ho queerarinos.

All of the Skepchick sister websites will be going dark tomorrow, following in suit with Wikipedia, Reddit, Boing Boing, and a host of other sites tomorrow. So on January 18, 2012 from 8am to 8pm, Queereka and our content will be unavailable. If you’d like a bit more information on why we’ll be taking the day of and lounging about with whiskey, head on over to this handy infographic at Know Your Meme — best do it soon though, as it won’t be available for long.

While I understand that SOPA has been “shelved”, the Consumerist has an excellent article on how SOPA and PIPA aren’t exactly dead.

So, we’ll miss you while we’re away, and we hope you’ll miss us too. If you’re jonsing for a fix, don’t worry, we’ll be back on Thursday. I do hope though, that you might call your representatives and inform them that you’d prefer they not screw with your internet in this fashion. If you need a bit of help figuring out how to contact them, this may be helpful.

Michelle is an aspiring cat lady and managing editor of Queereka. Only one of these causes her partners to have much chagrin. She lives next to the most phallic water tower in the United States and occasionally gets paid to play with pregnant ladies and their families while she goes to school to become a nurse. She also has an unhealthy lust for infectious disease and vaccines. You can follow her on twitter at @MerrieMelodyxx for updates on her obscene coffee and whiskey habits.
