Why Kirk Cameron and other Christian fundamentalists insist upon using totally baseless arguments to support their assertion that gay marriage is sinful escapes me. The reasons are not secular but theological. Marriage in Christianity is a picture of Christ and the church. Marriage is supposed to represent the love between God and humans. The man represents Christ, the woman represents the Church. The woman obeys the man, the man loves and respects the woman. Gay marriage perverts this picture and is against what God commands, it is thus sinful. Gay marriage isn’t like drugs it doesn’t have damaging physical effects, it doesn’t hurt the economy. Oh and gay people are not evil. They simply have a unique temptation, that of being sexually attracted to men. Just like straight guys, gay guys must resist this sexual temptation in order to follow Christ. Any sexism or discrimination from these doctrines results solely from man’s inability to separate weakness in some areas from a judgement of value. Women are strong in some areas and weak in others, men are strong in some areas and weak in others. Heterosexuals are strong in some areas and weak in others, and homosexual people are strong in some areas and weak in others.
