Sydney “Gayby Baby” Film
There’s a really cool documentary project going on in Sydney, Australia. Director Maya Newell, the daughter of a lesbian couple, says she “hope[s] that in watching this film audiences will be inspired to interrogate ‘what is family’ and how and by whom it is designed.”
You’ll find the video down under…
See what I did there? I’m a huge dork, deal with it.
Warning: The children in this video are painfully adorable.

These guys are raising some money to help complete the film. The goal is A$100,000 (whatever the hell that means) and they’re currently sitting at A$89,677 with four days left. They’re pretty close to their goal, which is cool. Love to see this stuff happening in other countries!
Really I just wanted to share this with everybody because they’re so cute with those accents! Adorable little Aussie kids.
It’s a little weird that there don’t seem to be any explicit references to two-dad families. Perhaps they’re trying to avoid it because it’s more controversial? More likely, it just happens that most of the couples mentioned in this particular clip were lesbian couples. We’ll just have to see when this super awesome movie gets finished!
Adorable!

Yaaay! Done 🙂 I wondered about the lack of two-dad families as well, hopefully it will be addressed in the film! I assumed it was just harder for dads as they would be more likely to have to go through adoption channels etc.
A$100,000 is another notation for $AU 100,000 or one hundred thousand Australian dollars.
