In New York City, teacher Mark Krolikowski, who identifies as a transwoman, was fired from hir job for being “worse than gay.” Sie has since sued the school for damages. Good luck to hir!

Actress Jodie Foster came out last night as gay at the Golden Globe awards.

An object lesson in how transphobia makes you stupid. Teaser: the author feels justified in using “tranny” because trans people call non-trans people “cis.” “Cis” sounds like “cyst” and also like the first syllable in syphilis, and as we all know, if a word rhymes with a bad word, it must also be bad. Not even exaggerating here.

We may be on the verge of a long-overdue paradigm shift away from “choice” in the framing of abortion rights.

You might want to put a trigger warning on that Burchill piece, as it’s basically a repulsive pub rant against transwomen prompted by a few people upsetting the author’s mate on Twitter.

Ah, they’ve now withdrawn the piece and apologised. Anyone with a strong stomach who would like to read this trash can still find it at http://www.birdofparadox.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Transsexuals-should-cut-it-out-_-Julie-Burchill-_-Comment-is-free-_-The-Observer.pdf.

I doubt the apology will stop a bunch of angry transfolk and allies protesting at their offices on Thursday though.

Holy fuck that’s an ignorant and hateful spew that woman calls and opinion. Is she even aware that some trans people used to be women but chose to be men. I can’t imagine what she thinks of that.

Kudos to the Guardian for pulling it, but I have to wonder how they let it post in the first place.

Thanks samanthac for posting the link to the article after it was taken down.

Oh no, see the Catholic school didn’t fire Krolikowski for being transgender, they fired hir for “appropriate non-discriminatory reasons.” I’m sure the administration let us know what those reasons are as soon as they think of them.
